Apparently, these clubs, that were attached to ABC Liquor stores, were the cat's pajama's in the 80's and early 90's with their huge rotating bar and "sophisticated" lighting and sound system. Let me elaborate on the rotating bar because this was probably the most memorable feature about the place. This bar was probably 20' in diameter and let's say you had to hit the loo sometime during the night which would require you leaving said bar. Well you could forget about finding your drink again!
After the glorious days of J.D. Penguins it wasn't until 2002 when I started dj’ing again at a nightclub. My first weekly gig, after returning to Tampa from a brief hiatus in Columbus, OH, was at the Seminole Heights bar, Liar's Club. After the Liar's Club closed its' doors in 2003, I went on to dj weeklies throughout the Tampa Bay area (e.g. The Underground in downtown Tampa, Friday nights at the Downtown Lounge in New Port Richey and Saturday nights in Cyberia at Czar in Ybor). Between these gigs I would occasionally fill in for Rich Ranck downstairs at The Castle. Since 2005 I've been filling in for him on Friday evenings that led to filling in for dj Sean on Saturday and Monday nights to Sunday's BURN.
